Waters Corruption Continues

Maxine Waters Ordered to Pay Massive Fine for Violating Campaign Finance Laws

California Democrat Rep. Maxine Waters has been slapped with a $68,000 fine after her campaign committee was found to have broken multiple federal election laws during the 2020 cycle.

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) revealed that Waters’ committee, Citizens for Waters, violated key rules involving improper donations, sloppy financial records, and illegal cash payments. The findings came in a batch of official documents released.

Illegal Donations and Shady Reporting

According to the FEC, Waters’ campaign failed to properly report both incoming donations and outgoing expenses during 2020. The group was also caught accepting excessive contributions totaling $19,000 from seven individuals—well over the $2,800 per-person legal limit.

Waters’ team tried to return the extra cash but did so “untimely,” according to the FEC. On top of that, the campaign made four illegal cash payments totaling $7,000 — each over the federal limit of $100 for such transactions.

As part of a legal agreement, Citizens for Waters avoided court by agreeing to pay the civil penalty and send its treasurer to an FEC-run compliance training program.

Waters Blames “Clerical Errors”

The campaign’s attorney, Leilani Beaver, insisted the violations were just “errors” and not intentional. She claimed the team brought in legal counsel and implemented new procedures after the fact to stay compliant.

But this isn’t Waters’ first ethics scandal — not even close.

Waters Paid Daughter Nearly $200K

In 2023, a Fox News Digital investigation revealed Waters paid her own daughter over $192,000 for running a so-called “slate mailer” operation between 2021 and 2022. That shady arrangement let Waters funnel campaign cash to family members under the radar.

Back in 2018, the FEC also investigated her for improper donations, but the Democrat-majority commission voted 5–1 to dismiss it.

Anti-Trump Rants and Melania Attack

Waters, a loudmouth liberal known for unhinged attacks on conservatives, made headlines after publicly questioning First Lady Melania Trump’s citizenship during a 2018 Los Angeles rally.

“If he wants to look at people’s birthright, maybe he ought to look at Melania,” Waters shouted to a crowd of left-wing protesters, wrongly implying Melania’s legal status was in question — even though the First Lady has been a U.S. citizen since 2006.

Waters has made a career out of venom-filled speeches targeting President Trump, Elon Musk, and anyone who doesn’t fall in line with her radical agenda.

At one D.C. rally, Waters screamed that Musk had “no right” to manage Treasury data or be involved in financial tech — despite the fact that no laws were broken and Musk was operating in full legal capacity.

A Career of Corruption and Chaos

Waters has been in Congress since 1991 and currently serves as the top Democrat on the House Financial Services Committee — despite repeated ethics scandals and financial misconduct.

Her latest fine is just one more reminder that corruption in Washington often hides behind seniority, power, and a (D) next to your name.
