New whistleblower testimony uncovers alleged CIA attempt to control narrative on Covid origins

New testimony from a “highly credible whistleblower” has highlighted a link between the CIA and analytical narratives on the origins of Covid, the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic has alleged.
The subcommittee, which is chaired by Rep. Brad Wenstrup, R-Ohio, revealed that a “multi-decade, senior-level, current Agency officer has come forward to provide information to the Committees regarding the Agency’s analysis into the origins of COVID-19.” In a letter written to CIA Director William J. Burns, Chairman Wenstrup, along with Chairman Mike Turner, R-Ohio, of the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, highlighted this whistleblower’s testimony, noting that he had alleged that the CIA assigned seven officers to a Covid Discovery Team, whereby the conclusion of this review theorized that Covid had originated from a lab in Wuhan, China.
The letter continued, “The seventh member of the Team, who also happened to be the most senior, was the lone officer to believe COVID-19 originated through zoonosis. The whistleblower further contends that to come to the eventual public determination of uncertainty, the other six members were given a significant monetary incentive to change their position.” In their summation, they pointed out that the allegations required the committees to conduct “further oversight of how the CIA handled its internal investigation into the origins of COVID-19.” The committees asked for documents and communications related to the Covid Discovery Team regarding its establishment, its research into the origins of Covid, documents, and communications within the agency regarding this research. They also requested pertinent information related to contractors, other government agencies (like the FBI), and pay history that could point to potential financial bonuses for “members of all iterations of the COVID Discovery Team(s).” This new discovery comes amid rumblings that the Biden administration is poised to reinstate Covid-era regulations and protocols as new reports of a mutated variant of the virus have emerged.
